108 Years of Neighbours Creating Communities
I volunteer at the centre. I relate to the work being done with people with disabilities as I have macular degeneration of the eyes.
I have traveled a long, long path from my beginnings in Malta, then England and now in Scarborough.
There are programs I benefit from. They slow down the progression of my disability and in some cases improve it. I have been actively involved for many years.
I was born with multiple disabilities (mobility impaired and almost totally blind) and wanted to swim but its hard for me to go swimming without the support I need.
I am a long-time member and involved in activities that promote disability access and inclusion. I am also a part-time staff at BBNC and do a lot of peer support and advocacy work with clients.
My Art piece is called Path to Employment. Although I am a person with a disability and participate in the centre's accessible activities, Birchmount Bluffs is my first employer.
