This collection of posters represents what users of neighbourhood centres created when they were asked what their centre meant to them. The posters were created by children, youth, adults and seniors from neighbourhoods across Toronto.
"I joined Warden Woods Community Centre in 2009. It wasn't like the other offices I used to work for. It was busy like a big household with a large family. I could smell cooking at my desk.

"I like to write in my journal because I write poems about my family and my friends. I come up with ways to help people in my community and get my friends to help me.
" I was trapped and unable to reach for the sky. University settlement provided me with the balloon so I could break free and try to reach it. Essentially, they are teaching me how to fly again."
“This Centre means coming together with friends and helping each other. It’s also about meeting and learning new things and relating to one another no matter where you come from.”

"University Settlement has taught me a lot and I have grown with them throughout the years. My artwork shows the trees growing and with them growing it shows the stages of them.
There are programs I benefit from. They slow down the progression of my disability and in some cases improve it. I have been actively involved for many years.
I was born with multiple disabilities (mobility impaired and almost totally blind) and wanted to swim but its hard for me to go swimming without the support I need.
I am a long-time member and involved in activities that promote disability access and inclusion. I am also a part-time staff at BBNC and do a lot of peer support and advocacy work with clients.
My Art piece is called Path to Employment. Although I am a person with a disability and participate in the centre's accessible activities, Birchmount Bluffs is my first employer.
I saw a lot of people having fun, having BBQ and having a great day, having a great time with the animals. I wish the whole city could have fun and enjoy these animals.
The reason I drew this image is because I play piano everyday here. My poster means you can come here to Cecil to practice piano whenever the centre is open.
I drew some people from the community and the flashing lights that we cross to go to the park. There are cupcakes. My poster means friendship and all my friends are going to Cecil.
I like coming to Cecil Community Centre to play, try experiments. I wrote Cecil Community Centre in the middle and then I wrote in the corners what it represents.
I like Cecil Community Centre because I get homework help. For my poster I picked yellow because it is a happy colour and I have fun here. I like the centre because we go on trips.
Devon has been a member of the Fred Victor Art Program for 5 years. “I just paint. Do art. I’m open to learning all kinds of mediums. I paint from and organic nature”.
I am a senior. I turn 69 in May. I am happy at the centre. I love it here. I love the people. I meet new people every time I come. I thoroughly enjoy myself. I take Yoga every Friday morning.
